As designers, we believe that furniture pieces are capable of doing good while they live out their dying days and the way we accomplish that at ToBe is by inspiring and directing the consumer to do something beneficial for the Earth with our products.
We’ve learned from the most respected sustainability directors that making a consumer product authentically sustainable, independently carbon neutral, wasteless in material is close to impossible. But what we can do to offset the tiny amounts of waste from our process is design a positive user action into the product that inspires and directs the consumer to do something beneficial to the Earth.
The one night stand is one of few examples of truly, fast furniture. Fast to acquire, fast to breakdown. Every other piece, whether it lasts 6 months or 200 years in your family home has an element of durability to it. That durability in your home means durability in the landfill, alleyway, or stream that it ends up in. As designers, we believe that products are capable of doing good while they live out their dying days.
